Playing without the likes of Justine Henin and Kim Clijsters, Belgium struggled against the much-fancied US team in the Fed Cup quarterfinal. Williams sisters, playing after a long gap for US gave a perfect start to their team winning both their singles matches. Though, Venus struggled against the lowly ranked Kirsten Flipkens in the first set and at one moment was trailing 5-3 but inexperience shows on Flipkens who started committing unforced errors and offered Venus a chance to come back in the match. Ultimately, Venus win the match in straight sets 7-5, 6-2.
On the other hand, Serena Williams has an easy day out against the world number 227 Caroline Maes. Serena playing like an in-form player defeated Maes in straight sets 6-1, 6-4. The way Williams sisters are playing at the moment, there is no doubt in my mind that they can easily whitewash the Belgium team 5-0.
